What’s your game? What do you do?
I'm a hair dresser, nail technician, make up artist and owner of Hair by Jo Holton. I live in beautiful North Devon near the sea and I've built my brand and salon around a relaxed, calm and restful vibe where my clients can come and feel at ease whilst I pamper them.
What is the best thing your job?
I have a real eclectic mix of clients and love making them feel good, confident and relaxed. I enjoy the variety my job brings and that no day is the same.
What is your USP?
I'm quirky, cool and love creating new looks. I'm always keeping up with the latest trends and love experimenting with new techniques and styles. I've also become popular in the area for balayage and colour corrections.
Describe a typical day.
Every day is different. I'm always busy but ensure the salon is relaxed as this is the environment I not only like to work in myself but I want my clients to feel relaxed in.
My days are spent doing balayage and cuts or a full day of curly hair and colour, there is always a nice variety. Some of my clients also incorporate their hair treatments with a manicure.
Who is your inspiration?
My husband and daughter are a huge inspiration to me and the main reason I'm on my feet for up to 10 hours a day. Within my industry, Sophia Hilton and Jo Irvine are both women who I admire. They have both worked hard to build their own businesses and are now empowering and helping others, like myself, to do the same.
What are your plans for the future?
I think it's important to stay on top of trends and styles and I'm always learning and evolving my skills and knowledge of the hair industry. Whether it's undone hair to ongoing trends, braids, updo's and waving techniques, I love recommended different styles to my clients and for them to leave my salon feeling a million dollars.
